I don't know what conflation of events led to this year's bounty, but there are enough blackberries out there to dye the world purple. Fill an ark. Put end-to-end, they could go to the moon and back. And again. And that's only the blackberries here around Bremen!
Besides that, they were really BIG this year.
I'm constantly on the lookout for places out-of-the-way where I can find juicy and big ones. Sweet is good, too.
Sometimes, I just go over to the cemetery behind us and pick enough to go on our breakfast cereal.
Of course the biggest and juiciest are just out of reach or on the other side of the fence or in dangerous places, like along the tracks. That's where you're NOT supposed to go.

Here's an article from the local freebie paper today, "Berry Pickers Risk Their Lives". Not only do you risk being run over by a train, if you're picking berries along the rail and cause serious problems to the rail service, the sentence could be as much as 30 years!!! And even if you don't cause any trouble at all, the police can fine you € 25.00.
Believe me, you can buy a lot of blackberries for € 25.00. I think I'll stick to the cemetery.
