Garden Work

Garden work was out of the question these last months - kids here, us not here - so there's been alot of catch up.

I have to say I'm proud of our boxwook pelican. It grew itself, really, and you have seen it before (see here). And like living things, it keeps growing.

The Pelican naturally got a bit hairy over the last year and should have had a hair cut in spring, but you know how that goes. He was way past due for a cut. We'd trimmed all the other plants around him, so his long hair looked especially unkempt.

Scissors to the rescue.

It's not as easy as it looks. A sculptor I am not, but thank goodness I have Werner-- he's got the eye and I have the hand. Between the two of us we got that pelican whipped into shape.

We're still growing the back of his head and a bit of the bill. Otherwise, he looks pretty good, doesn't he?
