Klaus and Johanna host our Kohl-und-Pinkle Fahrt und Essen every year and nothing much changes - certainly not the menu!! Again, we were 7 this year, and it appears it will forever remain so. Johanna announced that hosting a dinner for 8 or more is just too much to manage anymore. I understand, but too bad; sometimes, the more the merrier, and that's usually true with dinners.
But it was, as always, a fun afternoon-into-evening. We met up at 2:00 for coffee then headed out. It was a really nice day, but once again, a bit too warm for the time of year. I guess we'll just have to accustom ourselves to that...
We had some Schnapps and some Schnecken , everyone's favorite Haribo snack. I prefer Riesen, a chocolate-covered caramel that will rip out your crowns if you're not careful! I never buy them for myself so this is my once-a-year treat.
There were of course flowers beginning to bloom - the snow drops, little yellow aconite (but don't hold me to that - just guessing) and of course daffodils! Some clever person stuck this on a rhododendron. And the requisite group photo. We grabbed a walker going the other direction - there were lots of folks out and about - and put on our smiles.Like I said, a pretty day.
We love our friends and the time we have together. The conversations are always lively and range from politics to art to aches and pains. But, I have to say, the meal is the star on this occasion. And yes, it was the last kale of the season - it has been way too wet and the kale is rotting on the stalk, so we were especially happy for this yummy meal that will have to last us till next winter and the next kale season in Germany.
