Spring Cleaning

No, not the attic.  Maybe next week.  But this week we are saying good bye to the table we bought in Thomasville before we moved here.  We needed something compact since we knew we wouldn't have a real dining room at first and this gate-leg table was perfect - elegant, but easy to get out of the way.

But it wasn't really so stable when guests started cutting meat, and 8 was the absolute maximum it could seat and it seemed the legs were always in the wrong place.  Besides, tablecloths that fit were hard to find.  So we found another table that's more flexible and more stable, but we do not need two. Our house is small. We tried to sell it once or twice or three times, stored it in a friend's cellar for a while and then had it in our living room for way too long.  I WANTED IT GONE.

It's at the auction house now, the Auktionhaus Weser, to be exact.

It is not lonely.  There are rugs.

Paintings.  I think lots of folks are cleaning out the attic.

A flamingo that would be at home in Florida.

A Porsche. But not my color.

Hey - are those my old dining chairs???  Want them!

A precious sewing basket, but, really, I don't need another.

And if you're looking for some Christmas Hummel figurines, this is the place!

An elephant chair.  One of the ugliest chairs ever. Carved from single, solid piece of wood.  Poor tree.

So, bye, bye dear sweet table.   I hope somebody takes you home and takes good care of you.
