Spring - NOT !!
or
The Unending Winter

We knew the weather was expected to be less than nice this week - another low was predicted to move in - but really! Really! We woke up this morning and it was not only cold and wet and gray, it was snowing. By 9AM, this was the scene on the terrace.

Werner put on his wool turtle neck sweater, jacket, coat, scarf and hat, and carrying his umbrella marched off to the train and his class at the University - the last of his course on Schubert's Unfinished Symphony. My morning was more prosaic - I dutifully put on t-shirt, sweatshirt, jacket with hood and with my gloved hands grasping an umbrella, trudged off to the gym.

Thank goodness there was something warm for lunch! In German, this is called an Eintopf - one pot - heartier than a soup but not really a stew. This one is green beans, carrots, potatoes, celery root, white beans, chicken and lovely homemade stock. Fresh parsley. Wonderful fresh rolls (I didn't bake the rolls). And I know it looks a lot like the kale soup of a few weeks ago, but believe me it is not. Not at all.

Warmth for a cold, cold day.

We like hot soup, but I'm looking forward to cool salads on the terrace - minus the snow.
