Tea and Cake in Town

We're retired, but we have friends who are still working so meeting up with them is not so easy.  But now it is fall break here for the public schools so I called a teacher friend and we found a day to meet up and have a little get together.  Where shall we meet? I aksed.  How about the Bürgerpark? she said.  (You can substitute Central Park here.)  Great!

We met behind the grand Park Hotel that has a view over this lovely field to a house - waaaay there back between the trees - called the Meierei.  It used to be, a lot of years ago, the administrative center for a dairy.

We biked to the Meierei and found a table just there to the left of the grand stairs, in the sun. Pretty fancy for a farm house, huh?
Aahhh.  Ordered some coffee and cake.  And there should have been a picture of that cake, but no go. I forgot.  But they had HUGE slices of plum cake, and rhubarb cake, and cheesecake, and Black Forest Cherry Cake, and .... others.  Werner and I decided to share a slice of plum cake (of course we shared) with a generous dollop of whipped cream. It was enough.

After an hour plus of catching up, we started home on the bikes (the ebikes).  Once again, with the ebikes it is so much easier and so much more fun. We still move our legs a lot (a lot!!) but I don't think we get quite the cardio exercise in. But OK. We're older and it's all OK.

Besides, this is what we get to see. We stop and pause and breathe and take in the sights. Waaaayyyy in the background is the town of Lesum and somewhere back there is the spire of the old church. What a lovely sky and view of the fields. There need to be more cows in the field, IMHO.

Wishing you all such a day.
