Monday English Group Outing

At least once a year, the English group I teach on Monday evenings, 6:00-7:30 (don't mess with the time because it is fixed!) do a little outing.  In the past we've rowed along the Weser and Lesum Rivers and taken bike tours in the rain and sunshine. Even Hunter and Hannah have been part of these outings: what fun that was!!  But we're all getting a bit older, so this time we just took a walk. A walk through the Bremen Schweiz (Bremen Switzerland).

Never fear.  NOT the Alps.  Our "Switzerland" is maybe 30 meters above sea level and our "climbs" are gentle to say the least.  Perfect for us old geezers!

We met at the community center to start. Most of us were there, though a couple of our group were still on summer holiday, visiting family and friends.  We are a handsome bunch!

And what a perfect day!  Sunny, just warm enough to be pleasant. The path was varied - here along an oak allee.

And through the woods with sunny pastures beyond.

After a good hour that should have been more (aren't we fast!), we arrived at our restaurant, the Brunnenhof,  a traditional meeting place for lots of north Bremen outings.

They set a wonderful table and, since we had a room to ourselves, we could be as lively (read: loud) as we wanted.  Our group has changed little over the last 15 years or so that I've been "teaching" but what has not changed at all is how much we enjoy a good party. That our server was a transplanted Mediterranean just added to the festive atmosphere.  Actually, he was a hoot.

Next week I am going to hammer them with grammar, and they are already circling the wagons!  I think I should teach them a saying or two ....
