Happy Birthday Nickolet

Twenty-one is something to celebrate. So we did.

Nickolet spent the summer in Dresden doing an internship and has been busy since returning to campus two weeks ago.  But today was Birthday Day, so we had to get together.

We'd asked her to come and bring a friend if she wanted.  So yeah, I'll bring one friend, she said.  And then in mid-afternoon, an email:  I couldn't decide who to ask!  Can I bring three friends?

OK. It's your birthday!

Put another leaf in the table.  Add more rice to the pot.  The cake would have to do!

In the end, there were only two friends along, and probably just as well since - though these ladies are ladies - they can eat!  Of course, home cooking is a real treat when you only have cafeteria food most of the time.

We had chicken with apricot sauce, basmati rice, and peas with mushrooms and conversation and laughs and fun.  Can't beat that.

It was great seeing Fiona again and getting to know Sandra.

After singing Happy Birthday (the same song you all know - that they sing in Zimbabwe too!), Nickolet made a wish.  I hope it comes true - but it's a secret!
