Weekend in Ohlendorf
We always seem to say "Hamburg" when we go to see René, Rima and Amina, but they live in Ohlendorf, a village outside of Hamburg. It is small; you could probably count the houses and there are likely as many cows and horses as people there.
We wanted to visit Amina before we left for the big US / BREMEN / PARIS adventure, and lucky Werner, it coincided with a visit from Hannelore, one of Monika's oldest friends (and so, Werner, too) here from the US for a visit. She and Werner had not seen each other for about 15 years, so there was a lot to catch up on! Of course, she had heard about me and vice versa, so it was nice to get to know each other in person. And it was delightful meeting her and her husband Carlos, originally from Argentina. If we ever get to California, they will certainly get a visit from us!
Amina and Opa did some art work. She likes to color and paint and has done some interesting little pieces. Don't be fooled by the martini glass! Of course she wants to imitate the grown ups, but her glass is filled with clear sweet water.
(Growing up is a theme. I offered to sew a dress for her when she comes to visit in August and asked her what style. Strapless. I beg your pardon? I don't think that will work. Ask Mama. Mama: You don't have anything to hold it up, sweetie. How about a boat neck??? It's not her first choice, but she yielded to Mama - at least for the moment!)
Amina and I discovered that we can both cross our eyes. What a portrait!
And as we got ready to leave, the rain needed to be swished from the windows, and she was a good window washer!
On the way home, would you believe we saw this sticker on a car!? War Eagle!
