It was past time for the annual rowing outing with the English group from Platjenwerbe. What fun, as usual.
Though we do it only once a year, we're really a pretty good team: we all know our roles, we all know our places and we all know how to have a good time.
This year, Detlef sported new gloves; he claimed his tender hands got blisters last time. Wouldn't you know, he got a blister anyway, just at the edge of the gloves!
Here we are all in a row in the row boat; Lisa is in the very back with her small accordion and played songs along the way. So many people on the banks stopped and looked and waved and I just KNOW they all wished they could do this little outing, too!
The trip has to be planned with the tides - who wants to swim (row) against the tide? Too much work. Anyway, we've always had a "dinner" before, but this time the tides dictated coffee and cake. We rowed a bit further to a nice restaurant on the River Ochtum and were rewarded with plum cake - don't forget the whipped cream!
