Comfort food

The calendar says spring, but the weather does NOT.  It's been unseasonably cool for a few weeks now.

Today, it was only gray and wet.  And unseasonably cool.
What's for dinner? he said.  Sigh.  What's in the fridge?  There's some leftover butternut squash, not exactly springtime fare, but I think we need some comfort food today, so that'll do.
Chop it up small, put it in a hot pan with some onion and sea salt and fresh pepper and cayenne and let it get nice and brown.

Bacon?  Yes!
It all goes in a little casserole with some pasta and the left-over ricotta and the left-over bell pepper and the bread crumbs we make ourselves along with the butter and fresh sage leaves.  Love sage!
Heat it up, add a salad of marinated left-over zucchini and the last tomato over radish greens and arugula.  Eat.  Be warm and comforted.
Tomorrow it's to the market since we have used up all the leftovers!!  Here's hoping for a little sunshine.
