Railing

It's done! Werner finished his part a bit ago, but I am The Painter (as opposed to The Artist) and it took me a while to get around to the finishing touches.

At the top of the stairs the bit of railing was nondescript to say the least.  Ordinary.  Plain.  REAL plain.  Approaching ugly.  

The elements for the replacement came from the building parts recycling place - here's the newel post it its "original" state.  Needed some work, I'd say.  The ballusters weren't a whole lot prettier and since they were previously used, they showed some wear.

But Werner can make it all pretty and make repairs so you'd hardly know there was ever an imperfection.  Nevertheless, our little house is defined by small imperfections, so that fits right in. 

Of course, he did a great job.  The painter did OK, too.
