Sewing

Sewing comes in spurts with me - for months the sewing machine sits in its case, then gets used relentlessly for a few weeks, then goes back into hibernation for a while.   After the bedroom re-do was done, the sewing machine moved back upstairs, but didn't get really really put away.  So I got a little itchy.

I'd bought patterns for the American Girl doll (Dylan has one - or two) and found suggestions on how to resize them for the My Twinn doll that Hannah has.  But between this and that and the other, I'd not got around to making anything beyond the pants and shirt (and sandals!) that I sewed up last summer when I actually had the doll in front of me and could make the necessary adjustments.  She's cute, isn't she??  This was her July 4 outfit.

But with all my sewing experience, I am not a pattern maker.  So I took the 18" doll patterns to the copy shop, enlarged a few, and then went back to the machine.

It's really kinda fun and I should do more of this. And when Dylan gets just a tad older, her doll will get a few of these wardrobe enhancements, too!  This was the next effort, made from an old skirt of Michelle's, an old blouse of Mutti's, and the extra collar buttons from Werner's shirts, all up-cycled for Hannah's Twinn.
