It's International Workers' Day. In Greece they're rioting. In Hamburg and Berlin they set fire to cars. In the Harz Mountains they danced through the night in order to keep the devil at bay and welcome the fertile season of spring. Crazy things happen when the weather starts getting warm.
In Bremen it's a bit calmer. Yesterday they set up the May Poles in hundreds of communities and towns and Vegesack was no exception.
You can see it isn't exactly wonderful weather-wise: windy, gray, threatening. That isn't good news for the people who've arranged the outdoor Maison et Jardin show along the river. This is the view from the balcony above the Weser, but the tents extend a hundred meters both directions. But people come anyway - you just can't wait for the weather to do things outdoors.
HOWEVER, we see no reason to get cold and wet on the bikes, so when it started to rain, we started home. We'll continue to enjoy May 1 from the dry and warm of indoors.
