Almost Springtime

Of course it isn't really springtime - not even close. But, you know, there's always a day or two between winter and spring when you get a whiff of what's to come. Saturday was one of those days - sunny !!! not cold !!! We went to the market, then Werner did the store stuff and then we went for a bike ride. Yeah !!!

Here's the route: from home, past the "mall", across the lock over the Lesum River, then down to the point where we could look out at the light that marks where the Lesum and the Weser split; then down along the Weser and back again. Just right.

We don't often bike to this point - it is after all a dead end! But you can see where the Lesum flows into the Weser, where the ferries cross from Vegesack to Lemwerder. It's the little red spot on the map.

Cool.

The sky was blue and the wind mild. What's that in the tree?

Here's a closer look. A jacket. Or at least it looks like a jacket. How in the world did it get there?







But here, here and here, more stuff in trees - Christmas stars, shovels. And then there were the random parts we wondered if Lex could use for his motorcycle repairs!












It was a great break from winter, especially since it seems to be coming again. We're supposed to have snow and sleet tonight. Aren't we happy to have NO appointments early tomorrow!
