Fourth Advent

The poinsettia did survive, but now it looks more like a miniature palm tree with red fronds.

Sunday is a quiet day here in any case since all the stores are closed. Naturally, this particular Sunday seems quieter than usual.

Saturday we drove to René and Rima's to take their gifts to them and deliver the doll house that Werner has been working on for Amina. The house is a loaner, actually, from a neighbor of ours. It was hers as a child and her boys played with it non-stop as kids she said - not with dolls and such but animals and cars. Apparently, it was useful for climbing on as well - even the little balcony on the side! It's incredibly sturdy to say the least. So after another little one gets full use of it, maybe one or both of her boys will have got married and have some need for it themselves! I sure hope so. L+C, you might recognize the car in the garage (though only a prop for the picture - the Caddy stays here!)

Sunday night we had dinner with Mutti, Christoph and Tina, and Tina's parents (Klaus and Irene) at Klaus and Irene's new place - they moved in last October and are happily still settling in. Klaus is a professional chef and had a restaurant of his own for many years - I've given you some of his soup, MJLC - so dinner was good: bacon wrapped shrimp with dill sauce, fresh tomato soup, then grilled salmon on sauteed spinach, pureed carrots and roasted potatoes. No one complained!

Here's a collage of the evening,

and a picture of the tree with REAL flaming candles on it! That's still done quite often here, though we're perfectly happy to have electric lights on our tree and leave them one all the time for our own little Christmas glow.

Merry Christmas
