Rememberances, and why moving takes so long

So, how many of you know what these little thingies are?

Jacks. I want to believe I tried to teach Michelle how to play Jacks, but I am not sure, at all. Probably never did. Never really had the right place to do it. Hard to come by sometimes.

I spent HOURS and HOURS playing Jacks as a kid, by myself and with others, one-on-one. Sit on the step below the smooth concrete stoop, throw the ball, gather the jacks, lose your turn, get it back, do it all over, go on for HOURS.

There's the ordinary onesies-twosies-threesies-etc. Then there's Jacks in a Basket, Jacks in a Pen, No Bounce, Jacks in a Basket, Around the World!! I guess you'll have to look it up.  I've shown some of my German friends the game and they were all aghast and flummoxed and couldn't do it at all.  I can still, after all these many, many years, do it. Takes a bit of warm-up, but I can.

So many memories.  Really makes paring down and packing up slower.
