Ah, yes, I have alliterated again. Silly me.
So, Werner's son René, who majorly knows how to give a party, had a party for his 50th birthday. He gives such good parties that his mother, now living in Curacao, flew in for the party. We only had to drive for an hour plus.
But, really, having a 50-year-old kid makes you stop and take stock (or fly in from Curacao). Wow. My kid is 50. Take a deep breath and go with the flow.
As you USofA folks know by now, birthdays - and particularly "round" birthdays - are special here in Germany. And, most differently, you throw your own party. So you do.
We arrived to see the prep already done so I only had to take some pictures before the fact.
Mom and Dad with the kid. And no one was less happy than they. It was a happy time.
OK, I know, Amina is getting older, and Rima is petite, but here they are next to each other and I think, wow, this little girl is growing up!
A family pic. Aren't we a good-looking bunch? Yes, we are.
Food: pork roasts, veal with tuna sauce, sauerkraut with sausages, a so-big cheese platter, and enough beer, sparkling wine, and assorted other drinks to keep everyone happy. Frankly, some were too happy too late, but so it goes.
I don't know how many people were there, but any friend in the area was there, and I guess they had a good time. We checked out at 2 am, but the majority partied on.
We learned later the last was escorted out at 4 am. OMG.
Morning came soon enough, but not before 11 a.m. Breakfast and then...
clean up...
and then goodbye for now.
It was such a lovely weekend to remember. Happy Birthday René and many many more!
