Clean Up

We have a small house.  By US standards, miniscule.  But we have STUFF. All of us have STUFF.  And after a while, this STUFF has to G O.

Time had come.  We started at the top - the attic.

It's not big enough to stand up in, but it can hold a lot of STUFF.  This was only one side.  Giant Legos we bought when Amina was 2 (she's 10 1/2 now), old insulation, the easel that gets used once every 10 years or so.
And other things that we couldn't bear to part with, like this treasure.  Recognize it?
My oldest pastry cutter.  Fallen apart.  What were we thinking?

Here's the front bedroom, transformed into temporary storage.

Old posters, old records, old outdoor chair cushions, old papers, old taxes.

It took a while to sort, as you can imagine.  Some of it was easy to junk - the old receipts and taxes, all the school papers Werner had to save for 10 (!) years, just in case, the old cushions, the old records.  Some stuff went to recycling, some other things were donated to a couple who have a flea market stand.

We decided to keep the nursing chair and maybe we'll get around to reupholstering it next year.  Right.

Done!  After sorting and re-placing, we can see what's there now and it feels a lot lighter overhead.
