Christmas with the English Group

These folks are so special.  Have I already said that? Of course I have. After more than 15 years together, we're like family.

In addition to our English lesson every week of the school year, we have a couple of celebrations, and Christmas is of course the highlight of the winter.  Everyone brings something to eat and we all dress for the occasion.

 Decorations abound.

And the major decorator-in-charge always makes something for each of us to take home.  This year, a little paper tree and (electronic) candle as well as a star to hang in the window.  Thanks Brigitte!

Along with the food and drink, there is always music. What is Christmas without music?  At my first Christmas celebration with the group, I hung back a bit and didn't participate in the singing as much, but of course I just love singing along and we've added a few more carols over the years that I have introduced to the group.  Favorites are Rudolph and Jingle Bells, but we do some very traditional English carols as well.

There's always a mini-concert from the flautists who enjoy playing as much as we enjoy listening!

The season would not be complete without this get together with these special folks.

And then suddenly it is third Advent. Third candle lit and only one to go.
