Last ride for a while ...

I'm heading home next week for a nice long visit, and that's great.  But it means leaving my bike behind for a while .... and that's not so great.  So we went out for a tour today --  me and my bike and Werner, of course.  And weren't we lucky - for the first time this week, the chance of rain was under 70%!  Actually, it was a low 10%, and the rain didn't show up at all to spoil our little parading around.

I needed to meet up with a guy taking over a class of mine, and we needed to check in on Mutti, so we headed into Bremen.

High of about 64° with a brisk wind from the north west - we sorta flew into town.  On the way we saw some of the last blackberries - the red ones surely won't ripen.

And we don't get a wonderful show of leaves here, but there are a few colorful splashes.

The route to town goes through fields at first, but then we hit some of the industrial area before getting to the former harbor.  This graffiti caught my eye - I don't think it needs translation.

We checked out part of the new walk / bikeway along the still developing former port area that's being transformed into a living/shopping/working/recreation area.  I have to say, I think I could trade in the house for one of these apartments.

So, my "sub" was performing at the Güterbahnhof.  If you've ever been to Railroad Square in Tallahassee, you'll know exactly what this place is about.  Avant garde, new art, Green.  Very.

Some of it I like,

some of it I simply don't get,

and some just makes you wonder what these folks are doing after years of art studies.  Really, Amina does better work than this.  And easily more creative.

Then it was time to check in with Mutti.  Not without cake.  It seems a bit early (and it is!), but the Christmas Klaben and Stollen are already in the bakeries, so we picked up a few slices and it picked up Mutti's appetite a bit.  That's a good thing.
