USA June 2010 - Orlando

Getting here was super easy - early check-in with Lufthansa meant we only had to get to the airport early enough to go through security.  Man!  I wish we could do that every time!  And since the two gates in Frankfurt were approximately 100 miles apart, we got a lot of exercise before starting the long leg over the ocean.  What happened to the trains?

Since we arrived early evening, it wasn't totally and completely stifling hot but it was still a shock compared to cool Bremen.  And there's no getting used to it.

It is always fun to be greeted by little ones, and Dylan and Hayden did their part!  And right away, it was Birthday Time!  Happy Birthday Werner!  Would you believe we forgot?  (Kids can make your mind wander.) If it hadn't been for Mutti's call early in the day, it might have slipped by us  altogether.  But there was time to recover, get cheesecake and strawberries and candles.  And don't forget to make a wish ...

It was mostly taking walks and watching Mickey Mouse and doing letters and days and naps and the usual, except for a Cheesecake Factory regional softball tournament; Lee's team got the booby prize but had a lot of fun doing it!

And of course there was an end-of-school party for Hayden.  Lee + Crissy not only supplied the jumpy pool, but brought fantastic food from Logan's and home made cupcakes.  What a great time the kids had!  It was fun meeting some of the teachers and staff, too, a group of caring and patient people if there ever was.
